Feeling Light in the Spine, an Uplifting Tantric Meditation from the Vijnana Bhairava

Vijnana Bhairava Tantra Meditation

I always seek inspiration for my meditation or breathing techniques in past practices and teachings.

In a time when we often seek scientific reasons or definitions for techniques, ancient practitioners and teachers experienced the same methods more intuitively and sensorially. They approached these practices with an ‘aloof’ attitude, connecting to subtle experiences of energy and consciousness.

Embracing the ‘Spiral Line’: Exploring the Dance of the Body

July 2, 2023 by Laurent Roure Leave a Comment

Spiralling movements in our body are natural and essential for maintaining a healthy posture. Our tissues, including connective tissues, exhibit spiral patterns, such as the spiralling shape of our heart and DNA. This post will focus on the “spiral line” role within our connective tissues.

The term “spiral line” pertains to a concept in the field of fascia, a connective tissue that envelops and supports various structures in our body, such as muscles, organs, and bones. Fascia is composed of collagen fibres and possesses a web-like structure that enables it to transmit forces and provide structural integrity.

Breathing in the Back Meditation: Finding Calm and Serenity.

This reflection is centred around our yoga, movement, breathwork, and meditative practice and how it all ties in with our daily lives.

Having participated in more active and forceful yoga methods for decades and teaching them as well, I now find myself taking a step back and offering much more mindful and slower styles, and I can see the benefits of doing less.

Just be – A poem by Bethan Laurels

February 5, 2023 by Laurent Roure Leave a Comment

I wanted to share this poem written by Bethan Laurels – she is a friend and student who sent it to me after practising yoga, movements, and breathing on the theme of sleeping better. She thought her poem was the perfect representation of being present in the present moment, an essential trait for the brain to feel safe and calm.

Positive versus negative tension during our yoga, breathwork and meditation practice.

October 9, 2022 by Laurent Roure Leave a Comment

Hands in tension

I often explore the idea of ‘tension’ in classes.

I have seen too many injuries, struggles, and discouragements that could have been avoided. As human beings, we often think that we thrive by trying too hard and pushing our limits- we end up not getting anywhere and failing our practice.
