Following last January workshop ‘Move Better, Breath Better: Freeing the Upper Body,’ Laurent invites you to follow him on a journey through the lower body.

This two and a half hour, multi-layered yoga workshop will help us to explore and discover the area that we call the lower body. It will have a particular focus on the roles and the multiple functions of the psoas muscle, the diaphragm and what we call in many physical fitness classes the ‘core’.

This workshop is not simply about giving you a six pack, instead, it is a holistic practice which will look at the different ways the above muscles influence our health, our body, our breathing, our energies and our physical practice. Furthermore, we will interrogate how they connect and work together to help us feel strong and balanced in our bodies.

We will learn about how they are key in stabilising and supporting the spine, how they are
the initiators of movements like walking, running and dancing. We will begin to understand how relaxing them can enhance our diaphragmatic breathing and consequently balance our nervous system and influence our moods.

Through simple movements, classic yoga postures, breathing techniques, meditative visualisations, you will learn to find, release, strengthen, balance and activate those centring muscles for a well-supported lower body, spine and pelvis.

Getting to grip with your inner core is to find a real sense of support and our strong foundation for our yoga practice and for our daily life.
