This introductory Somatic yoga and breathwork 2-hour masterclass is designed to enhance and improve health and well-being.

Laurent wants to offer you a series of body movements, breathing, and deep relaxation techniques that are easy to use anytime and by anyone. It is for all ages, abilities, and health conditions.

What are Somatic yoga and breathwork?

Would you like to eliminate the ongoing tension, aches, and discomfort in your shoulders and neck?

Would you like to improve the flexibility of your spine and freedom of movement in your body?

Would you like to soothe the low back tension and pain?

Consequently, increasing overall flexibility and suppleness within our joints, increasing fluidity in our connective and muscle tissues, improving our respiratory and nervous systems, and all other functions?

Somatic yoga and breathwork are simple, accessible, and relaxing ways to improve our health and well-being by emphasising internal physical perception. The inner focus is meditative, reflective slow, gentle, and deeply relaxing.

Somatic practices help us to learn about ourselves so that we can make empowering and definite changes with our bodies, our breath, and our mind.

How does it work?

Chronic pain and other autoimmune conditions come from the lack of connection and the loss of ‘sensory-motor skills.’, a disconnection from the body.

Somatic techniques such as Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, or Hanna Somatic Education use repetitive and healing movements in gentle and simple exercises to rewire and reconnect the brain with the body.

Through those rhythmic and small moving repetitions, the brain and the nervous system learn how to let go of restricted and tense parts of the body – This process is called ‘sensory-motor learning.’

We can regain our ‘sensory-motor skills and improve ‘sensory-motor learning’ by stimulating and using our brain’s natural process, increasing self-awareness with this light through those rejuvenating and restorative somatic exercises.

One of the most important outcomes of this practice is that it reduces our stress level: less tension and pain in the body, less stress, and consequently, less stress, equal to less tension and pain in the body.

How to prepare?

  • Bring a large cotton or wool blanket to cover your yoga mat – you will be lying and practising on it, and for that reason, avoid fleece.
  • A little cushion or another folded blanket for the head
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Water

Besides teaching yoga mindfully and intuitively for many years, Laurent’s knowledge of somatic practices comes from years of studying and practising with renowned Feldenkrais teachers like Michal Havkin. He is using his unique mix of mindful yoga and somatic practice to help people with stress and anxiety, trauma and PTSD, suffering chronic pain, insomnia etc.
