More and more people are using mindfulness as a tool to get through these trying times. But what exactly is mindfulness? It is best described as the process of being attuned to and aware of the passing of the present moment.
Mindfulness entails checking in with the sensations and emotions within and around us. It is also a happy place where we can experience great strength and resilience and cultivate growth and transformation.
We can also nurture empathy and compassion for ourselves and others through mindfulness. Accessing this state can be hard, but it is present within us all.
We just need the practice to learn how to harness the powers of the body, the breath, and the mind in order to observe with lucidity, accept with calmness and reach a place of stillness.
If you are curious about what mindfulness can do for you then the brand new and unique 6-week mindfulness course offered by Laurent could be perfect for you. Every week Laurent will offer a blend of body, breath and meditation practices based on his own approach to yoga that he calls ‘mindful yoga’.
Mindful yoga offers a myriad of techniques taken from the tantric yoga tradition, eastern spiritual works, and Buddhism as well as more contemporary techniques such as somatic movements. Of course, every strand of mindful yoga is infused with decades of experience that Laurent has accrued as a teacher and a student.
Who would benefit from this course?
The course is designed for participants of all levels: from the beginner in bodywork, yoga, breathwork and meditation, to the most advanced meditator who seeks a new experience within the multiple practices of mindfulness.
But of course, this series is also designed for anyone who wants to start the new year off on a good foot and wishes to strive after balance, resilience, and peace.
Each attendee of this course will leave with a deeper knowledge of mindfulness tools as well as handouts and audios to continue learning long after the course has finished.
For six weeks, participants will meet with Laurent once a week for a 75-minute class.
The course will be split into three sections over six days – each section will focus on a different essential pillar of mindfulness – the body, the breath, and the mind.
Senior yoga teacher Laurent Roure is a mindful yoga and somatic practitioner and facilitator.
He studied meditation with Alexander Filmer Lorch, pranayama and therapeutic breathwork within the system of Swami Gitananda and Tantric relaxation, meditation with the Bihar School of yoga. He is an accredited teacher with a specialisation in yoga therapy for anxiety and stress and yoga for cancer. He studied and works at the Minded Institute, a specialist centre for yoga therapy for mental health.
His Breathwork and Pranayama, Yoga Nidra CPD courses are used by many yoga teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
He is accredited as a senior teacher and a trainer with Yoga Alliance Professional UK.
