The Bones Series – A Somatic Journey Through Your Skeleton | Spine & Ribs
This is the third masterclass in The Bones Series – A Somatic Journey Through Your Skeleton. Each class in the series focuses on a different part of the skeleton and combines somatic movement, gentle weight-bearing, and meditative rest to improve how you move, rest, and feel in your daily life.
In this session, we explore the spine and ribs, the central axis of the body and the space that supports your breathing. When the spine and ribs are supple, posture becomes lighter and movement more fluid. When they are stiff, the whole body feels restricted.
Through mindful exploration, you will:
- Release stiffness in the spine and ribs to restore freedom of movement.
- Improve posture and breathing by mobilising the ribcage.
- Connect breath and movement to support calmness and ease.
- Discover how the spine links the entire body, bringing both strength and lightness.
Most of the practice takes place lying on the floor, with some exploration in sitting or standing. A soft surface is recommended, along with loose, warm clothing. Blankets, pillows, or bolsters can bring extra comfort.
This masterclass is open to all, including beginners, and is especially supportive if you are recovering from injuries or surgeries, or simply wish to deepen your self-awareness and connection. Recordings are available for 30 days after the full series. If you book this session as a drop-in, access will only apply to this class, not the previous or future ones.
