Yoga Nidra is an ancient Indian practice that allows you to consciously explore the different stages of wakefulness, dreaming and deep sleep by utilising relaxation techniques, breathing exercises and visualisations.
In these workshops, Laurent will provide a step-by-step guide to yoga Nidra, its techniques and its benefits to our health and well-being. The workshop incorporates theoretical and practical aspects.
We will explore the science behind yoga Nidra and how the relaxation brought on by yoga Nidra can be beneficial to our health.
The workshop will cover the practical aspects of how to practice yoga Nidra so that you can become a keen observer of your inner world. Laurent will give you tips about how to achieve withdrawal of the senses and pure concentration, how to prepare for savasana, the significance and the nature of the sankalpa and much more.
The benefits of yoga Nidra are said to include:
- Minimising and counteracting the effects of stress, anxiety, and depression.
- Clearing up the unconscious and awakening creativity.
- Enhancing memory and learning capacity.
- Managing psychological and sleep disorders.
The workshop will start with a short discussion on the benefits and by a gentle moving practice to warm up the body and some breath work followed by some breath work to stimulate your respiratory system. All these specific techniques are designed to prepare the body to lie down comfortably on the floor for a long time.
Wear loose and comfortable clothes – if you don’t want to use the studio’s props, bring your favourite yoga mat, blankets and cushion. Expect to experience a deep relaxation experience!
