Earth and Breath: Rooting into Autumn
AvailableIn collaboration with Judith Frehner - The House & Food Company
Overview
Autumn brings a new yet familiar rhythm. The light and nature change, the air cools, and something in us is encouraged to reflect, slow down, and come closer to the ground and the earth to find comfort and rest.
These are the moments when the body knows before the mind does.
These are the moments when it is time to set the house in order.
These are the moments when we stop, listen, and let go.
Autumn is one of those moments.
This two-day workshop takes that seasonal shift as its starting point, and creates a space to meet the transition with awareness and care.
Through somatic movement, breathwork, and guided rest, we work with the body's natural inclination to ground and root itself, to settle, and to find stillness as the year turns inward.
What we will practise
The practices are drawn from somatic movement, mindful yoga and the science of the breath, with gentle grounding techniques, thematic yoga nidra and visual meditation woven throughout.
We will work with the breath as a tool for calm, for sleep, and for finding a steadier place within.
As the season turns, the breath offers something simple and reliable: a way back to the body when the mind has moved too fast, and crucial support in transitioning to a new season, with reassurance, regulation, and readiness for the cold months.
These seasonal tools, together, offer a way to release held tension, find stability, regulate the nervous system, and meet the season's quieter, richer rhythms.
Who is this for
No prior yoga experience is needed. The work is slow, attentive and accessible to anyone willing to pause.
We will move gently through the body, exploring what it means to feel grounded rather than just think about it. And we will rest, properly, with guidance.

Travelling to Basel
Information for non-local visitors
Flights and transfers are not included in the workshop price, giving you the freedom to travel on your own schedule. We are happy to help you plan your journey.
If you are travelling from abroad or from another city, we recommend arriving in Basel on Friday 23rd October. The Basler Herbstmesse opens that weekend, and the city is at its most vivid: golden autumn light along the Rhine, the squares filling with stalls and rides, and the unmistakable feeling of the season turning. It is a good reason to give yourself an extra evening to settle in before the workshop begins.
The closest airport is EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (BSL), with direct flights from across the UK and Europe. From London, British Airways flies daily from Heathrow. EasyJet flies from Gatwick and Luton. Ryanair flies from Stansted. The flight takes around one hour and forty minutes.
You can check available flights from the UK on Skyscanner.
EuroAirport is approximately 15 minutes from central Basel. The airport bus number 50 connects the Swiss terminal exit directly to Basel SBB station every ten to fifteen minutes. Taxis are available at arrivals if you prefer a private transfer.
For those travelling within Switzerland or arriving by train, Basel SBB is the main station and is well connected from Zurich, Geneva, and across the wider region.
Accommodation
Accommodation is not included. For recommended places to stay in Basel, we are happy to put you in touch with Judith Frehner at The House and Food Company, who can advise on the best options near the studio.
Optional Activities
The workshop weekend coincides with the opening of the Basler Herbstmesse, Switzerland’s oldest and largest autumn fair, which begins on Saturday 24th October 2026 and runs for two weeks across seven of Basel’s central squares. With more than 550 years of history, the fair brings traditional rides, market stalls, and seasonal food specialities to the heart of the city.
For those travelling from outside Basel, Saturday evening after the workshop may offer a lovely opportunity to experience some of the fair’s atmosphere before returning home on Sunday. For local participants staying on after the weekend, the festivities continue across the city throughout the following two weeks.

Getting There
What participants say
Back in January, I had the privilege of attending a truly transformative yoga weekend, and I still carry the glow of that experience with me. Laurent was an exceptional guide, his calm presence, deep expertise, and heartfelt dedication created a space where I could genuinely reconnect with myself. I came away feeling wonderfully ‘dusted off’ from the inside, lighter, clearer, and deeply grateful for every moment of that beautiful journey.
Marion M
I really enjoyed this weekend workshop in Basel with Laurent Roure. I especially loved the strong focus on body work and movement rather than just traditional yoga practice. The entire weekend felt very grounding and centering, and I left feeling much more connected to myself and my body. A really beautiful experience.
Roxanne V
Laurent’s yoga workshop was a really relaxing and interesting experience. It was my first time trying doing yoga, and I learned a lot while feeling very comfortable and guided throughout the session. I would definitely recommend it to anyone curious to explore a deeper connection between body and mind.
Lauryn
Laurent is a wonderful teacher and Basel is beautiful town. I have no hesitation in recommending the yoga and breath work weekend retreat in Basel. We were extremely well looked after by Judith with excellent food and company. I'll be coming back.
